Today is a beautiful day; it’s 90° outside with all sun and no clouds! The perfect beach day. I finally convinced my boyfriend (who is more of a pool type of guy) to go to the beach with me. He thinks we are only going to be there for a little while, but I have other intentions lol. I plan to stay there all day long & soak up as much sun as I could get.

Beach Bag
I really like the whole basket weave looking bags lately. I’ve been seeing them for so long all over Pinterest that I finally went out and bought one. They’re perfect for taking to the beach since the sand could just go right through it. Mine is from J.Crew and it is absolutely adorable.

Sunscreen
Back in my middle school and high school days, I’d opt out for any good sunscreen and just go with a tanning oil cause naive ole me thought I’d get a better tan; plot twist I ended up looking like Lary the Lobster! Now I use waterproof sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. And I use Neutrogena sunscreen for my face. Believe it or not, it is possible to get a tan with SPF 30 Sunscreen.

Sunglasses
These are a beach must! You’re not going to find any shade at the beach…there are no trees! Well unless you bring an umbrella. But not everyone does so sunglasses are definitely a priority. My favorite sunglasses are my ray bans that my boyfriend got me for Christmas, but I don’t like to take these with me. I usually take my American Eagle aviators that are about $10-$15. A pair I wouldn’t mind if they broke or went missing.

Makeup
I go minimal on makeup in the summertime and most of my face products have SPF like my ITS COSMETICS CC cream. Check out my Every Day Makeup Essentials to see what’s in my makeup bag. For a beach day, I only use my Concealer, Foundation, & Bronzer.

Hat
I’ve been loving the look of cute, girly baseball hats, which you can find at any clothing store. My favorite one is from CottonOn it’s a pretty baby blue color. American Eagle has some cute ones too. If you don’t bring sunglasses, this is a great alternative to block the sun from your eyes. I usually wear a hat so my hair isn’t blowing all over the place.

Magazines
As convenient and nice as it is to have ebooks, I can never see the screen in the sun so I like to go old school and grab a couple magazines, or a book to keep me entertained while laying on the beach.

iPhone & Headphones
I always have my phone on me. I have an iPhone with a great camera! So instead of packing a camera I just use my phone as most people do. And I make sure I have headphones handy, so I can plug them into my phone and listen to some music as I relax and work on my tan.

That’s what I pack in my beach bag, I also bring a cooler filled with ice, snacks, sandwiches, and plenty of water! Gotta stay hydrated of course. I hope your summer is full of bright beach days like today! If you go to the beach this summer, take some pictures and hashtag #BeachBumminWithTricia.

Makeup is a game changer. I wake up looking like a zombie and slap some of this stuff on my face and BAM! I’m human again. I may be exaggerating a bit here, but it definitely does work wonders. Out of all the amazing makeup products, there are in the world, these are what I like to use…

Primer
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
LORAC Behind The Scenes Eye Primer

If I don’t wear primer, my makeup doesn’t even last an hour. Especially for my eyes. The LORAC eye primer I have is in a small bottle that for some reason always goes missing. So I’m forced to go without wearing it some days and on those days my eye makeup just slowly disappears and it looks like I was never wearing any to begin with…gotta love primers!

Concealer
IT COSMETICS bye bye undereye
NYX High Definition Photo Concealer Wand

I alternate between both of these concealers. These two are my favorites, they work really well to hide my dark under circles. I usually use whichever one I find first while digging through my makeup bag.

Foundation
IT COSMETICS Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50

I’ve heard about this brand IT COSMETICS years ago from former YouTuber, Emily June, but never tried it until recently and I’m so glad that I did! This brand has some of the best face makeup out there. It lasts all day, feels light, and is full coverage.

Bronzer, Blush, Highlighter
Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer
Benefit Dandelion Brightening Baby Pink Blush
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal

These three products work together so beautifully! Making my skin look absolutely perfect!

Eye Shadow
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
LORAC PRO Palette 3

My go to eye makeup is a shimmery nude on the lid, a matte taupe in my crease and a darker brown on the outer corner. Simple, but always cute!

Mascara

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

If you haven’t tried this mascara, go to your local drugstore or Ulta and buy it! You must, must, MUST try it. It works wonders! I don’t have long eyelashes at all, but you would never guess that when I have this on. There are other mascaras that work just as well as this one like the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, but the price makes the biggest difference. This is and will probably always be my favorite mascara.

Beauty Tools
Beauty Blender
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
Sally Hansen Eyelash Curler

I use all of these tools to make sure my makeup is blended well and looks natural.

Those are my everyday makeup essentials, I don’t usually wear eyeliner because I am awful at applying it haha, nor do I wear lipstick because I kiss my boyfriend way too much. Just being honest! 🙂 Let me know what your favorite makeup product is out of your whole routine. My favorite would have to be the Maybelline Mascara, but the product I couldn’t go without would definitely be the concealer. My undereye circles are crazy dark! Must cover that up.

Father’s Day is right around the corner; time to start thinking of some gift ideas for good ole dad!
What does one get for the most loving man in their life—the guy you go to when mom says no, the one who lets you get away with anything and loves you unconditionally.
What to get…what to get…

For the dad who loves making things

  • Powertools
  • Home Depot Gift Card
  • Lowes Gift Card

To be more sentimental, get him a nice card and inside write a message saying that you’d love to set up a day and help him build his next project! Nothing is more special than time spent together.

For the dad who is crazy about sports

  • Baseball Tickets
If your dad loves baseball, get him tickets to his favorite teams game being that it is officially baseball season.
  • Sports Memorabilia
If game tickets are too expensive, you can’t go wrong with his favorite team’s hat, or jersey or even a t-shirt! He’ll love whatever you get him.

For the dad that always Suits Up

  • A nice tie
  • Cologne
  • Watch
  • Box for his watches
If dad seems to already have plenty of watches, a great idea would be to get him a nice jewelry box for them. Simple, thoughtful & very useful!

For the Dad who loves everything and anything

LifeWithTricia

It’s all about that balayage! Blonde hair, gray hair, pastel hair…the lighter the better! We are all obsessed with the current on trend hair colors. The very high maintenance ones, especially if you have naturally dark hair like me. It’s never easy or healthy for your hair when you bleach it. So here’s my summer hair care routine to help keep my hair shiny and healthy!

Shampoo

Growing up I always just used whatever shampoo my mom would buy, which 9 times out of 10, would be something cheap from a department store. I always thought it worked well in my hair because it did its job of cleaning it. Once I started coloring and bleaching my hair, I knew that it was time for me to step up my shampoo game.

If you have color-treated or bleached hair you should use a shampoo that’s sulfate free. That’s the best for your hairs health. You don’t want a shampoo that’s going to be stripping your hair causing it to feel brittle and look dull.

Now I mostly use salon brand shampoos recommended to me by my trustworthy hairstylist. I currently alternate between two shampoos:
Color Proof SuperRich Moisture Shampoo and AG Thikk Wash Volumizing Shampoo.

I have oily hair, but since I have bleached it my hairstylist suggested that I use a moisturizing shampoo to help maintain my hair’s health. Since she knows about my struggle with my oily hair she also suggested that I alternate between the moisturizing shampoo and a volumizing shampoo. The AG volumizing shampoo is light on my hair and smells amazing!

Conditioner:

The conditioner I use is Color Proof  SuperRich Moisture Condition. I only apply it to the ends of my hair where you would make your ponytail. This way my roots and scalp don’t get oily too quickly.

I also like to do a deep conditioning treatment 2-3 times a month. I have a few favorite ones depending on how much time I have that morning or night.

For the days I’m pushed for time, I skip conditioner and use FLOW instantINTENSITY 30-second treatment. This product is GREAT! Most treatments need to be left in your hair for at least 10 minutes if not more to have an effect, but not this one. 30 seconds is all it takes. If you feel like you never have time for conditioning treatments, try this one out. It leaves your hair smelling fresh, feeling smooth, looking shiny.

If I have more time I like to use Revlon’s Uniq One Super10R Mask. It is very moisturizing and helps repair damage from chemical processes and heat. For this treatment, I would apply it generously to the ends of my hair and then I’ll clip it up and put a shower cap over it. Go about my shower and leave it in for as little as 20 minutes. Then I’d rinse it and go about styling my hair.

Post Shower Care:

Leave-in Conditioner & Detangler

After I towel dry my hair, I spray my favorite detangler, Revlon Uniq One. Yes, the same line as the mask I previously mentioned. It is my favorite hair product of all time. It has a ton of benefits and leaves your hair smelling clean all day. And it’s not too heavy on my hair either.

Style:

Depending on the day I would either blow dry my hair or let it air dry as I do my makeup.

I live in New York and it’s super hot and humid in the summer time so when my hair is completely dry and all styled I generously spray my hair with the Color Proof HumidityRx, an anti-frizz weatherproof spray. I was surprised to see that this product actually works. This product is also good to use if you’re going to the gym. I spray my bangs with it so that when I’m sweating, my hair doesn’t get messed up at all!

This is my current summer haircare routine that I find to work wonders! If you guys have any holy grail hair care products let me know in the comments below! I love trying out new products. All of the products in this post are salon brands, I’m not too sure if you could find them in basic retail stores, although Ulta does sell the AG hair products! Let me know if you guys try any of these products out.

Hello there lovely people and welcome to my blog, Life with Tricia. You may be wondering why I started this blog and the answer to that is…

Have you ever watched something and thought to yourself, “That looks like a lot of fun, I wanna try that; I can totally do that!” If you have, then you and I have something in common.

I’ve spent a lot of my time on my computer admiring all these Bloggers and YouTubers fascinated by the rich content they created. I would spend hours browsing around reading blog after blog, watching video after video. I have been a viewer for so long that I decided to give it a try on the creator side.

Back when I was in high school I made my first blog that I didn’t want anyone to know about. Yes, you read that correctly. I made a public blog that I didn’t want a single soul to see. How pointless I know. At the time, I felt nervous and embarrassed about my writing so publicly. If I could go back in time I would have stuck with blogging back then. I regret not keeping up with that blog, which may still be circulating somewhere on the web! I don’t remember the name of the blog, or the website that hosted it either. I actually can hardly remember anything about it, but I do remember posting a hair tutorial of a braided bun and trying to get a picture of the back of my head by myself which I’m sure was an awful picture lol.

So here I am today finally doing it! I’m super excited to see what feedback I get from you guys and more!  I’m very passionate about this blog of mine and I hope you enjoy all that I have to share. Let me know in the comments below what type of content you would like to see.

If there’s anything you’ve ever wanted to do that could make your life more enjoyable, but you didn’t because you were scared…my advice to you would be to go out and do it! I’ve been having such a great time theses past couple of days setting everything up for this blog. It’s so much fun!  I am glad I made the decision to go through with this. And I’m sure once you do whatever it is you’ve always wanted to do, you’ll feel the same way!
