What’s In My Beach Bag

Today is a beautiful day; it’s 90° outside with all sun and no clouds! The perfect beach day. I finally convinced my boyfriend (who is more of a pool type of guy) to go to the beach with me. He thinks we are only going to be there for a little while, but I have other intentions lol. I plan to stay there all day long & soak up as much sun as I could get.

Beach Bag
I really like the whole basket weave looking bags lately. I’ve been seeing them for so long all over Pinterest that I finally went out and bought one. They’re perfect for taking to the beach since the sand could just go right through it. Mine is from J.Crew and it is absolutely adorable.

Back in my middle school and high school days, I’d opt out for any good sunscreen and just go with a tanning oil cause naive ole me thought I’d get a better tan; plot twist I ended up looking like Lary the Lobster! Now I use waterproof sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. And I use Neutrogena sunscreen for my face. Believe it or not, it is possible to get a tan with SPF 30 Sunscreen.

These are a beach must! You’re not going to find any shade at the beach…there are no trees! Well unless you bring an umbrella. But not everyone does so sunglasses are definitely a priority. My favorite sunglasses are my ray bans that my boyfriend got me for Christmas, but I don’t like to take these with me. I usually take my American Eagle aviators that are about $10-$15. A pair I wouldn’t mind if they broke or went missing.

I go minimal on makeup in the summertime and most of my face products have SPF like my ITS COSMETICS CC cream. Check out my Every Day Makeup Essentials to see what’s in my makeup bag. For a beach day, I only use my Concealer, Foundation, & Bronzer.

I’ve been loving the look of cute, girly baseball hats, which you can find at any clothing store. My favorite one is from CottonOn it’s a pretty baby blue color. American Eagle has some cute ones too. If you don’t bring sunglasses, this is a great alternative to block the sun from your eyes. I usually wear a hat so my hair isn’t blowing all over the place.

As convenient and nice as it is to have ebooks, I can never see the screen in the sun so I like to go old school and grab a couple magazines, or a book to keep me entertained while laying on the beach.

iPhone & Headphones
I always have my phone on me. I have an iPhone with a great camera! So instead of packing a camera I just use my phone as most people do. And I make sure I have headphones handy, so I can plug them into my phone and listen to some music as I relax and work on my tan.

That’s what I pack in my beach bag, I also bring a cooler filled with ice, snacks, sandwiches, and plenty of water! Gotta stay hydrated of course. I hope your summer is full of bright beach days like today! If you go to the beach this summer, take some pictures and hashtag #BeachBumminWithTricia.

Love your list of beach essentials! I always end up getting to the beach and realizing that I forgot something. Maybe I should get a dedicated beach bag too!

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t forget something every once in a while, haha it happens!

Good on ya with the sunscreen! I was the same way and high school, always trying to get more tan. And admittedly I still forget to put it on sometimes, or figure I just won’t be out there long enough for it to matter. Thanks for the reminder!

I wish I was on the beach today; it’s been so glorious here! I pretty much have the exact same in my beach bag when I do go though; sunglasses and sunscreen are so important to me as I’m so pale! And I love nothing more than relaxing with a magazine or book on the beach!

The beach is definitely one of the best places to go to relax 🙂

Make up at the beach, really ??? I’m all for the sunscreen and everything else you have in your beach bag though, enjoy the beach!

I know! I’m one of those people lol. But only sometimes, depends on my skin that day. I mostly just keep it in my bag to freshen up after the beach.

This is such a good post if you are someone who is quite forgetful. This is helpful for this time for year, especially because a lot of people will be going to the beach.

Oh yes, sunscreen is a must! I actually carry it around every day in the baby bag, but it’s so important to be sun safe year-round here! And of course sunglasses. Although I don’t often get the chance to listen to music at the beach now, a lot of the other items are similar! 🙂

Hope you have a great weekend ahead of you! 🙂

Great list! I also take make up to the beach (again, one of those people 🙂 ) because you never know where will the day take you. Plus, lil make up never hurt nobody 🙂

    • Tricia July 6, 2017 / 10:40 am

Yes exactly! A little makeup definitely never hurt anyone 😊

Great post and list! We have a toddler so our beach bag essentials list is a tad bit longer, lol, but everything that you mentioned is definitely in there!

Your beach day is probably lots of fun building sand castles with your little cuties 🙂

Great list of essentials! I also think a protective case for your phone is a must; don’t want it getting wet!

    • Tricia July 6, 2017 / 8:17 pm

      Yes! Great idea

Loved to read about what you carry with you to the beach =)
I also can’t go to the beach without a magazine or a book!

Sunscreen is must.. Makeup – not really.. A couple of beers.. Definitely

That’s a useful list. We normally have a lot of extra layers too, bearing in mind it’s pretty cold on our beaches (UK) a lot of the time. In fact, the beach in winter is beautiful, and you might find us adding coffee and a hot picnic to the list.

    • Tricia July 14, 2017 / 10:26 am

OMG I would love to visit the UK especially to relax at the beach in the winter time for a hot picnic or coffee. That sounds like a great time.
